Welcome

Welcome to ardsbookshop.com, the website for Ards Evangelical Bookshop.

Our Profile

We are a family-run, independent Christian bookshop, Northern Ireland's first online Christian bookshop. We are located in the busy town centre of Newtownards, a lively market town on the Co. Down coast. We enjoy serving the needs of all churches and fellowships in this bustling Christian community.

History

Ards Evangelical Bookshop was established in 1967. It was taken over by the McCoubrey family in 1980, and within 2 years moved from a small 600sq. ft. location to a busy High Street shop of 1800sq. ft. Our worldwide mail order service has steadily expanded over the past 28 years and in 1998 we launched our website, being one of the first Christian bookshops in the U.K. to offer a full online bookshop service.

In the year 2000, having struggled for space for many years at our beloved "7 High Street" we launched out in faith and moved to our current location at "Crimond House".

Crimond House

Our present location allows us and our customers to enjoy 6000 sq. ft. of Christian retailing. Here we can offer our customers the service we have always dreamed of providing. We have an extensive reference section and Bible department, a wide range of cards and gifts, a large, ground-floor children and youth department and a picture gallery on the first floor, all under one roof, including on-site warehousing.

Publishing

We also have a publishing imprint, Crimond House Publications. We are the publishers of the Two Version Bible, and also publish a historical Christian novel, The Watchers on the Longships.

Awards

In 2007, Ards Evangelical Bookshop were presented with the award Large Christian Retailer of the Year, by the U.K. Christian Bookseller's Convention. It was the third time we have been nominated for the award.

In 2018, Ards Evangelical Bookshop were presented with the award Large Independent Retailer of the year at the annual CRT show. It is the second time we have won a national award.

"We are delighted to receive this award and feel it is but a recognition of the dedication and hard work of our staff providing a service to the Christian community. This service would not be possible without the interest and commitment of local church leaders and Christian workers." - Richard McCoubrey, Manager.
