She lived much of her life in Central Africa, looking only to God to sustain and keep her. She ran an excellent health centre and maternity unit, providing round-the-clock care for thousands of people for more than forty-six years. She worked without a salary and was sustained by the faithfulness of her God and the care of His people. Her midwifery care was one of the highest standard, and she saved the lives of innumerable mothers and their newborn children. Despite facing personal health challenges, she continued to serve with unwavering faith and dedication.
Betty is a person with a heart of love - I recall her telling me that she loved Dipalata and its people. She had experienced God's love shed abroad in her own heart, and reached out with that same love to everyone around her. At every opportunity, she would ensure that the local brethren would preach the Gospel to the many people who came each day to the hospital for treatment. Her efforts significantly contributed to the growth and spiritual well-being of the local Assembly.
Betty's life is a testimony to the power of faith in action. She heard her Lord's command to go and she went.
